Thermal Management System for Electric Vehicles

AKG's lightweight and robust cooling solutions are designed to meet the high-performance and weight reduction demands of electromobility. With a diverse product portfolio, AKG provides comprehensive thermal management solutions that ensure maximum efficiency by seamlessly integrating all components.

Our Thermal Management System regulates the temperature of the battery and additional drive system components while also supporting cabin air conditioning with R290 (Propane) or R1234yf. It includes a LightWeight Cooler for coolant cooling, a compact cooler for thermal storage, hydraulic and transmission oil cooling, and liquid-cooled cold plates for power electronics and battery systems.

AKG Frameless Side-by-Side Combi Cooler

The AKG Frameless Side-by-Side Combi Cooler is designed for engine and (hydraulic) oil cooling in various construction machinery applications. It consists of:

  • Radiator: AKG TubeFin Radiator
  • Charge Air Cooler: AKG TubeFin Charge Air Cooler
  • (Hydraulic) Oil Cooler: AKG Plate Cooler
  • Optional: Pre-mounted oil or fuel cooler – AKG Lightweight Cooler Oil (LCO-45)

The fan cover includes a protective grille for a fan that can be driven hydraulically, electrically, or directly by the engine. Additionally, electric fans are available in both 12V and 24V versions.

Cooling System for Fuel Cell Vehicles

A fuel cell converts hydrogen and charge air into electric energy with air and water as exhaust. It needs to be cooled with a low conductive coolant to prevent short circuits. Vacuum brazed and de-ionized heat exchangers are well suited for operation with low conductive coolant.

We offer a wide range of heat exchangers designed for fuel cell cooling applications. Our technical expertise allows for flexible designs that meet all specific requirements. Our solutions include tube-fin coolers for coolant circuits, liquid-cooled cold plates for power electronics, and compact liquid-cooled heat exchangers for hydrogen preheating and charge air cooling.

Cold Plate to cool power electronics

AKG’s high-performance cold plates ensure efficient heat dissipation in converters used in construction machinery, mining vehicles, wind power systems, and rail applications. Converters generate up to 5 kW of heat per power module, requiring reliable cooling solutions.

With over 30 years of experience, AKG develops customized, brazed cooling plates with high-performance turbulators for optimized heat transfer and minimal pressure loss. Our solutions allow flexible mounting of power modules on one or both sides and are developed through advanced fluid flow simulations to ensure maximum efficiency.

AKG-Line-TL (Lightweight Coolers)

The AKG-Line-TL (Lightweight Coolers) stands out with its high efficiency and low operating weight. Designed for both mobile and stationary applications, it is available with various drive options, including hydraulic motors (TLH), three-phase AC motors (TLA), and DC motors (TLD). These coolers are specifically engineered for cooling hydraulic oils and coolants in hydraulic systems and engines, providing a reliable and powerful solution for demanding applications.
